The Pen & Paper Archive
for the preservation of tabletop roleplaying history
About the Archive
The Pen & Paper Archive was created with one primary goal: preservation. Tabletop gaming is a beautiful art form, and there are countless writers, artists, and craftspeople whose work deserves not only to be seen, but to be given a place in history.
The goal of the Archive is not simply to collect works, but to catalogue & organize them so that they can be accessed -- whether for research, education, or play.
Who are we?
Sabrina Hawthorne is the owner and operator of the Archive. She is herself an author, and greatly values the medium of tabletop games. She believes that access to these works deserves to be maintained for future generations.
Where do you come in?
As of right now, the Archive is a hard drive, a laptop, a handful of spreadsheets, and a dream. The Archive is a work of love founded by someone who loves ttrpgs to death, and we know that there are plenty of people out there who share that passion. In the "Contact Us" tab, you can find a series of links that will show you how you can help out.
Donations
The Archive is not currently open to donations without review -- however if you would still like to donate games or game materials, please email us for more information.
A Necessary Statement
In the pursuit of preserving the ongoing history of tabletop roleplay, it is unavoidable that we will catalogue any number of works which depict and endorse fascistic politics - things like transphobia, ableism, and white supremacy. While a statement such as this can never fully reassure our supporters of the character of the people behind the project, we would still like to be absolutely clear: The Pen & Paper Archive and the people who compose it stand resolutely against bigotry such as antisemitism, mysoginy, and islamophobia. The history of this medium may include such things, but we do not believe they comprise any percent of its soul.
